Topic: A Case study - Benefits of BIM (Building Information Modeling) and VR (Virtual Reality) technology for Civil Projects
Speaker: Mr. Elvis Li
Mr. Li is the VP and Director of Tecton Limited, the leading building information modeling consultant in Hong Kong and China. Abstract
BIM is becoming a hot topic among all engineers and consultants in the Building and Construction industry. BIM helps all disciplines to communicate better and save cost when integrated with different technology like Virtual
Reality (VR), RFID and web.
In the Civil area, some government departments and consultants have already started to realize benefits of usin
BIM and VR to eliminate coordination problems and reduce rework. This talk shows a real case how BIM & VR technology helps a Civil project design team to improve communication, and enhance efficiency through :
Evaluating different design alternatives
Checking constructability & functionality of the design
Shortening the design => construction => handover cycle
