SITE VISIT - Hong Kong West Drainage Tunnel
The Lighthouse Club YMC & ICES are jointly organising a visit to Hong Kong West Drainage Tunnel Project. This project consists of an 11km long main drainage tunnel, an eastern portal at Tai Hang and a western portal at Cyberport as well as 34 intakes. After completion of this project, overland flow from uphill at Mid-levels will be intercepted by intakes and discharged to the sea via the drainage tunnel directly. Hence, the capacity of the existing stormwater drainage system at the lower catchment could be improved accordingly. Together with the diainage improvement works to be implemented at the lower catchment, which tackle localized flooding problem, the overall flood protection level at Northern Hong Kong Island can be raised. |
