An introduction to the explosives products being generally adopted in field for blasting work in construction project. The general concerns, its potential hazards and impacts to the surrounding environments during the entire period with presence of explosives will be highlighted. Method of assessing its degrees of risk / actions including preventive and protective measures will be suggested for discussion.

Cr Chow is a civil engineer with over 35 years’ experience gained in the Hong Kong and China construction industry. He has worked on many different civil-engineering projects and quarry operations in Hong Kong in the capacity of engineer, site agent, safety manager, environmental and quality-assurance manager, blasting engineer, blasting manager and construction manager.
Cr Chow has started up his carrier since 1982 and completed numerous HK major infrastructure projects on rock blasting excavation for CLP, HKHA, TDD, HyD, CED, WSD, DSD, CEDD; key on such as Castle Peak Power Station, Route 3 Lantau Fixed Crossing Project etc in surface blasting and Junk Bay Tunnel, Explosive Complex in Kau Shat Wan, Eagle’s Nest Tunnel and Cheung Shan Tunnel & etc in underground and tunnel blasting. Cr Chow is a qualified Blasting Engineer and Shotfirer in HK and also a Founder and Fellow of HKBEET. Cr Chow also delivered and presented paper internationally and made presentations to many professional institutions in Hong Kong. He has tremendous blasting knowledge and experience on how to safely handle and best use of industry explosives and he is willing to share all these with the audience. |
