Mr. Ian Cocking is Partner, Head of China Construction of Clyde & Co Hong Kong.
Ian heads Clyde & Co's Hong Kong and China Construction Group. He is recognised as one of the leading legal advisers to the construction, engineering and project development industries in Hong Kong and the Asia pacific region. He came to Hong Kong in 1988. With over 28 years' experience in negotiating and managing major projects, project administration and dispute management, Ian has a comprehensive understanding of how the construction industry works in Hong Kong and across the region.
Ian has taken a key role in a diverse range of major construction and project development matters, regularly advising contractors, proprietors, financiers, consultants and insurers on their ongoing contractual relationships, risk management strategies, and claims and dispute resolution.
Ian is also recognised as one of the world's leading construction lawyers by the International Who's Who of Construction Lawyers 2014 and has been recognised as one of the world's leading environment lawyers by The International Who's Who of Environment Lawyers 2012.
In this seminar, Ian will share with us his views on the contract provisions that forbid arbitration until after completion. He will also discuss the advantages and disadvantages of some proposed changes to how and when the arbitration should be conducted.
