Modern Wireless Positioning Techniques and their Integration with GNSS
It is a joint CPD function between the Hong Kong Institution of Engineering Surveyors and Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (H. K. Region)
About the Speakers:
Dr. Esmond Mok is the Professor of the Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics of the Hong KongPolytechnicUniversity. He received his PhD from the University of New Castle upon Tyne in the research area of GPS positioning algorithms in 1996. His main research areas include satellite geodesy, intelligent satellite navigation, and cellular network and wireless positioning techniques.
Most of the years the Positioning technology for outdoor was used by GPS but a new technology of indoor and outdoor positioning by GPS was launched in the last ten years. That was the Location-based Services (LBS). LBS is an intersection of three technologies such as: GIS, Internet and Mobile devices.
LBS are information services accessible with mobile devices through the mobile network and utilizing the ability to make use of the location of the mobile device. In the seminar Dr. Mok will introduce some modern wireless positioning technology applications and their integration methods with Global navigation satellite system (GNSS).
All members and guests are welcome and the number of participants is limited to 70. Participants will be accepted on a first come first served basis. For enquiries, please contact Mr. LIU Chun Kit (Tel: 852-9589-8288) or email to: cpd@hkies.org.hk
