Abstract
Delay to progress of the works is common in construction projects. Frequently the causes of the delay are complex and involve more than one event. When there are concurrent delays on the part of the contractor and the Employer, the determination of the contractor’s entitlement to time and money would become difficult. Mr. Michael Charlton will give a talk on this topic which covers the following issues:-
· What are the approaches which have been adopted by the courts and arbitrators in dealing with two or more competing causes of delay?
· Is there any difference in assessing the contractor’s entitlement to time and money in the event of concurrent delay?
· How will the approaches differ under various standard forms of contract?
Priority will be given to ICES members, thereafter place will be allocated on the “first come, first served” basis.
