Abstract
Fender system is an important port facility for berthing and mooring of a ship. Generally, the fender is used to provide the energy absorption and tender a reaction force to the back structure. Characteristic of fender selection can be one of the crucial factor to determine the jetty configuration. The speaker will share the concept of energy absorption of a marine fender, and introduce the selection of marine fender model. The speaker will bring in the design of marine fender system, which involves the berthing energy calculation, fender selection, steel panel design and accessories availability. On the other hand, the others design considerations such as structural layout, jetty surrounding environmental conditions and vessel geometry will also be discussed.
