A seminar - "Strategic Planning with Regards to Construction Disputes" will be held on 21 February 2013 (Thursday).
The construction market in Hong Kong is extremely buoyant. However, what happens when the budget is exhausted, or the project overruns, and a company is forced to try to recover money from its client. The starting point is the contract, but when this fails to resolve the underlying issues, what other mechanisms are at the company's disposal to assist recovery.
The sense of partnership developed at the start of the contractual relationship quickly weakens by taking the legal or arbitration route. Construction professionals, who work in the present time and look into the future must seek solutions with the aid of legal professionals who dispense their knowledge based on the hindsight of the project and the letter of the contract
The speakers of the seminar : Joe Gilfeather
Joe Gilfeather is the Regional Commercial Director for Hyder Consulting Limited. Joe is a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors, Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, Institution of Civil Engineers, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Institute of Marine Engineers, Science and Technology. He is also a Chartered Engineer, Arbitrator, Marine Engineer and Water and Environmental Manager. He has worked on multi-disciplinary construction projects include rail, highways, foundations, complex buildings and marine works both on the project management and commercial side.
